Wesley College alumnus Lance Balderson ’61 was honored with a reception at Wesley College on October 1, 2012. Balderson, a well-known artist whose work, “Tryst” was on exhibit in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, cultivated his artist talent during his years at Wesley under the tutelage of Wesley’s legendary Professor Lewis Wells. Wesley College held a small reception for Ken Robertson, Jr., a local retired Air Force member who donated a brass rubbing of Sir Robert de Bures to the College, which was originally done some time in the 1970s.Brass rubbing is a technique that requires a person to use special metallic crayons to copy an image from a piece of brass. Almost at the end of cross-country practice, Tristin Burris came running up, asking her coach, "We still going?" "Sure," Stephen Kimes told Burris, giving her the workout. Field hockey practice had just ended across the street. Burris was on the run from one sport to another.

This summer biology majors Amber Wiltbank and Jonie Woodard completed a 9-week NSF-funded Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) at Delaware State University. The program trained students in Molecular Genetics and Genomics. The experience concluded with a symposium during which students presented posters of their research results. Dr. Lynn Everett, professor of biology, served as their academic mentor. This was Wesley’s sixth year of participation in the REU.[more]
The US Government Accountability Office (GAO) used the data obtained at Wesley College to criticize the FDA for not following its own rules. Normally, it’s pharmaceutical companies that come under the scrutiny of the FDA. However, in an interesting twist of fate, the FDA itself is now under fire for not enforcing its own rules.
