When Dom Zara first arrived on the Wesley College campus four years ago, it didn’t look like much of a campus at all. Cars whizzed through on city streets, and it was hard to tell where campus grounds ended and city neighborhoods began. Gabriel Fernandez-Bueno (biological chemistry junior) and Olivia Hampton (biology senior) each earned a $3,000 undergraduate tuition scholarship from the NASA Delaware Space Grant Consortium (DESGC) for 2012-2013. Students at Wesley College held a canned food drive this past week to benefit the Delaware Food Bank in conjunction with the 123=ABC Community Service project. Incoming freshmen worked with current students, faculty and staff to serve the community of Dover through the canned food drive and other activities at the Aug. 18 event. In 2011, Wesley undergraduates Brett Sansbury (biological chemistry major) and Olivia Hampton (biology major) began their EPSCoR/INBRE supported summer internship in chemistry under the direction of Dr. Malcolm J. D’Souza, professor of chemistry. They completed their project analyzing a fungicidal para-substituted aryl thiocarbamate analog in Spring 2012.
