Commencement Information

The College’s Spring Commencement activities will begin with Baccalaureate at the Schwartz Center in downtown Dover at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014. Participation in the service is encouraged but not required. Graduates, please bring your graduation gown to wear for the service; however, no caps and hoods are worn at this event. Because parking will be challenging in that area, we suggest that you park in the College lots and take advantage of the van shuttles that will be available to take you to the Schwartz Center.  Shuttles will run every 15 minutes and will start at 3:00 p.m. Graduates who wish to participate are asked to arrive at the Schwartz Center by 3:30 p.m. and report to the second floor ballroom.

The commencement ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 10, in the Dashiell Amphitheatre in front of the H.B. DuPont College Center. A reception will follow on the front lawn. If you need special accommodations, please call (302) 736-2429 or email tina.heesh-mosley(at)wesley.edu.

In the case of rain that would prohibit having commencement outdoors, we have reserved the auditorium at Central Middle School in Dover. Because of seating limitations, each graduate will be eligible for three tickets.  The tickets will have the graduate’s name on them and be held in the entrance to the auditorium for guests to pick up as they arrive. We will post any change of venue on the College website as soon as the weather conditions allow. No tickets are needed for the outdoor ceremony.

Candidates are asked to arrive promptly at 9:30 a.m. in the Wentworth Gymnasium in the College Center. Those arriving after 10:00 a.m. will not be able to process. Faculty Marshals will be present to provide instructions. For the Commencement ceremony, State Street in front of the College will be closed beginning at 10:00 a.m. and will remain closed until the conclusion of ceremony. Please use Governors Avenue and park in any of the parking areas on the west side of the campus.

Seniors are required to complete a Degree Completion Survey before picking up their caps and gowns.  Information you provide will help us to continually improve our programs and services. This survey link will be sent to your email account as listed on your graduation petition and must be completed before the Grad Finale date. (click the links for Dover and New Castle Grad Final details). A DVD of this event may also be ordered by clicking on this link.

Commencement is an exciting time for graduates, families, and the entire Wesley Community. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Families and Guests

Don’t forget to purchase a fresh bouquet of flowers or a teddy bear for your graduate! The Wesley College Alumni Association will be selling flowers at the ceremony location on graduation day. All proceeds will go directly towards funding student scholarships. Thank you in advance for your participation!
