Roles and Responsibilities of Advisors and Advisees

Successful Wesley College students control their program of study.  They,

• Know and follow all general and department-specific academic policies and procedures

• Take the initiative to meet with their advisors on a regular basis, respecting faculty members’  office hours, deadlines, suggestions and requests

• Develop a career and educational plan prior to declaring a major

• Fine tune that career and educational plan as they move through a declared major course of study to graduation and beyond

• Ask questions and seek help when needed

In turn, Wesley College academic advisors,

• Assist advisees with career and education planning, course selection for registration, and preparation for graduation

• Meet regularly with advisees to approve course schedules and review academic progress

• Inform advisees of research, internship, graduate school, study abroad, and other college and career resources and opportunities

• Refer advisees as appropriate to the Department of Academic Support and other college services
