Scholars Day

Scholars Day is an opportunity for the entire Wesley College community to come together and celebrate scholarly endeavors. This day consists of presentations and performances that demonstrate scholarly achievements and research by students. The program is attended by peers of the participating students as well as faculty, staff, family members of the presenters and the public. This year's Scholars Day will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013, from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Students can participate in a number of ways:

  • Oral Presentations
  • Poster Presentations
  • Performances
  • Photography Exhibits
  • Recitations

Due to the popularity of this annual event with students, different segments of presentations are being held simultaneously in different venues on campus. Audience members are invited to choose among the different presentations to see multiple student presentations on various topics. Student research and papers can vary from studies in Biology, Business, English, Environmental Studies, History, Legal Studies, Mathematics, Media Arts, Nursing, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, and Religion to an audio documentary and performances by the Wesley Chamber Choir and Wesley Contemporary Ensemble.

Throughout the day, poster presentations are displayed in the College Center Lobby. The posters reflect various scientific research topics and the results of other student discipline studies. During the poster session the student presenters interact and answer questions from members of the campus community and other attendees.

After the final session of presentations, a reception is held for students involved, their families and faculty mentors. The reception includes a brief program where students receive a certificate of participation and an official Scholars Day t-shirt. This is the chance to applaud the students for their hard work and scholarly achievements on Scholars Day.

How to Help (Volunteer)

If you would like to help set up easels for the poster presentations, hand out programs and surveys, or channel visitors to the event of their choice, please contact Dr. Alban Urbanas, Dr. Richard Kashmar, & Prof. Jerry Mench by clicking the following link.
