More than two dozen Wesley College freshmen teamed with the Food Bank of Delaware on November 24 to provide Thanksgiving food to low-income senior citizens. Wesley College's Alexus Stroud has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on December 1. This is the first weekly award of Stroud's young career. averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists to lead the Wolverines to a pair of victories last week. Her efforts have fueled a three-game winning streak for the Wolverines. Stroud for the season is averaging 11.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
Dontae Jones made a layup with 1:39 left and AJ Tilghman sunk a free throw as the Wesley College men's basketball team hung on to defeat North Carolina Wesleyan, 59-57, on November 30 at the Battling Bishops Roger Taylor Invitational. Wesley College's Joe Callahan has been selected as one of ten semifinalists for the Gagliardi Trophy, it was announced by Jostens and the Saint John's University J-Club Board of Directors on November 22. Wesley College's Roderick Caine has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Football Co-Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Nov. 18. This is the first weekly award of any kind in Caine's career. Caine forced a fumble and recovered two more in fourth-ranked Wesley's heartbreaking 38-33 loss at Division I FCS Charlotte last Saturday. Caine also made seven tackles with 1.5 coming for a loss as well as a sack.
Former Wesley College Angie Owens has been named to the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Silver Anniversary Team, it was announced by the league office on Nov. 18. Owens holds the Wolverines career record with 1,054 rebounds and 225 blocks while ranking third in points (1,516) and fifth in free throws made (209). Owens also holds Wesley single-season records with a 59.4% field goal percentage and 332 rebounds, both of which were set in the 2008-09 season.
Wesley's Brionna Johnson was named to the All-Tournament Team during the 2014 Neumann Tournament on Nov. 16. During the championship game, she grabbed 18 rebounds and scored 15 points. The team finished second in the tournament, as they fell 59-49 to Neumann.
Fourth-ranked Wesley College's football game at Charlotte on Saturday, November 15 will be nationally televised in 23 different and 44 cities, including the District of Columbia on American Sports Network. Those States highlighted in Navy Blue are areas where the game is scheduled to be televised.
