Wesley College's Nick Miller has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Football Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), it was announced by the organization on November 6. Miller is now eligible for consideration for the Academic All-America Team.
Dieunise Desir was named Wolverine of the Week on Nov. 3 following her performance in the CAC Women's Cross Country Championships on Nov. 1. She ran the 6K in 23:13.4, besting her previous mark by 21 seconds. The team finished a program-best sixth at the event.
Wesley College's soccer teams invited Dr. Kathleen Curran and Professor Jonathan Kidd from the biology department to be Faculty Coaches of the Week during the fall season. Kidd was the men's soccer coach at Wesley when the program first joined Division III, which was the second year of the varsity team's existence.
Volleyball defeated Washington Adventist 3-0 on Nov. 2 during Senior Day. The team's lone senior player, Rachel Hausler, played a key role in the victory; recording 13 digs, the kill in the deciding set and four service aces during the match.
Junior Carlton Sheppard recorded Wesley's fourth-fastest time in school history at the CAC Championships on Nov. 1. He covered the 8K course in 28:09.9, surpassing his personal best by a minute and ten seconds. Sheppard was one of five Wolverines at the event to break the 30 minute mark, and the team came in tenth place.
Sophomore Dieunise Desir broke her own record at the 6K during the CAC Championships on Nov. 1, running the course in 23:14.4, shaving 21 seconds off of her previous mark. The team finished a program-best sixth at the event. Desir, the first cross country runner in school history to earn All-CAC honors, received that recognition again this year.
The football team defeated College of Faith 62-0 during Senior Day on Nov. 1. The defense returned three fumbles for touchdowns in the first quarter and forced eight turnovers in the game, helping the Wolverines improve to 9-0 on the season.
Wesley's men's basketball team went to Banneker Elementary School on October 24 to spend time with students who were practicing for the Delaware Special Olympics Basketball Skills Competition, which will take place on November 5. Team members played pickup games with the students and helped them develop their games.
Men's soccer celebrated their Senior Day during the regular season finale against Salisbury on Oct. 29. The team lost 3-1, but their 8-8-1 record is strong enough to potentially secure a berth in the ECAC Tournament, which would mark their second consecutive postseason appearance.
Wesley senior Payton Rose was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week and was named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 28. He collected four tackles, 1.5 sacks, and five pass breakups in the Wolverines' 75-12 victory over Virginia-Lynchburg on Oct. 25.
