Information Regarding Spring 2013 Commencement

The College’s Spring Commencement activities will begin with Baccalaureate at the Schwartz Center in downtown Dover at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013. Participation in the service is encouraged but not required. Please bring your graduation gown to wear for the service; however, no caps and hoods are worn at this event. Graduates who wish to participate are asked to arrive at the Schwartz Center by 3:00 p.m. and report to the second floor ballroom.

The Commencement Ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 11, in the Dashiell Amphitheatre in front of the H.B. DuPont College Center. Wesley alum David W. Devonshire will be the commencement speaker. A reception will follow on the front lawn. We encourage you to participate in this memorable occasion; if you are unable to attend, please notify my office at (302) 736-2429 or heeshtin(at)wesley.edu. Any individual who is not able to participate in the ceremony may write a letter and request permission to receive the degree in absentia. All requests will receive a written response from my office.

In the case of rain that would prohibit having commencement outdoors, we have reserved the auditorium at Central Middle School (211 Delaware Ave Dover, DE 19901) within walking distance of the CollegeThree (3) Tickets are included in this packet to be used only if we have to move the ceremony indoors. We will post any change of venue on the College website, text message and email before 9:00 a.m. the day of Commencement. No tickets are needed for the outdoor ceremony.

On Commencement Day, Candidates are asked to arrive promptly at 12:30 p.m. to the Wentworth Gymnasium in the College Center. Those arriving after 1pm will not be able to process. Faculty Marshals will be present to provide instructions. For the Commencement ceremony, State Street in front of the College will be closed beginning at 1:00 p.m. and will remain closed until the conclusion of ceremony. Please use Governors Avenue and park in any of the parking areas on the west side of the campus. 

Because the College wants to continually improve our programs and services, seniors are required to complete a Degree Completion Survey (can be accessed here)

1:30 p.m. Commencement Ceremony - Dashiell Amphitheatre, Wesley College

3:00 p.m. Reception for Graduates - Front Lawn

 

RAIN EVENT INFORMATION (Tickets will only be used in case of rain)

In the case of rain that would prohibit having commencement outdoors, we have reserved the auditorium at Central Middle School in Dover. Three (3) Tickets are included in this packet to be used only if we have to move the ceremony indoors.  We will post any change of venue on the College website the day before Commencement. No tickets are needed for the outdoor ceremony.

The graduation fee includes the purchase price of caps, gowns, tassels, collars and hoods, as well as diploma processing.  This fee applies to both graduates attending the ceremony and those receiving their degrees in absentia.
