Schlosser Finishes 2nd in First-Ever Decathlon

Competing in his first-ever decathlon, the two days after participating at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships, Patrick Schlosser finished second overall at the Lynchburg College Multi-Meet held on Monday and Tuesday afternoon. Schlosser, who scored 5,961 points overall, was also the first-ever Wesley College athlete to compete in the decathlon.

A freshman from Montgomery Village, Md., Schlosser was victorious in four events, two on each day, including the 100m Dash and 400m Dash on Monday, and both the Discus and 1500m Run on Tuesday.  Schlosser also took second in four events, two on each day, with the long jump and high jump on Monday and both the 110m hurdles and pole vault on Tuesday.

Schlosser opened the meet with an 11.13 in the 100m Dash to earn the victory and capped off the day with a 49.71 in the 400m Dash.  He also went 18-10.5 in the long jump, 5-5.00 in the high jump and threw the shot put 37-9.5.

On Tuesday, Schlosser broke his own school-record in the discus, winning the event with a toss of 141-3.  Schlosser also broke the school-record in the pole vault with an 11-01.75 effort. Opening the day, Schlosser competed in the hurdles for the first time, clocking a 18.70, while also throwing the javelin 136-2 and running the 1,500m in 4:56.45.

Schlosser's total ranks 38th in NCAA Division III.
