Wesley Alum Keynote Speaker at Scholars Day

04.17.2014

Matthew Gallagher ’10 was the keynote speaker for Wesley’s Scholars Day program on April 15. Gallagher was a liberal studies major with concentrations in philosophy, English and history. He received the highest honor given to a Wesley graduate—the Faculty Award, where faculty nominate and then select the student that is most outstanding in the class at the commencement ceremony. He is currently working as a Senior Operations Consultant for Bank of America.

The program is an opportunity for the entire Wesley community to come together and celebrate scholarly endeavors. It consists of presentations and performances that demonstrate academic achievements and research by students. The event is attended by students, faculty, staff, family members of the presenters and the public.

“Scholars Day was a wonderful celebration of our students’ accomplishments and faculty mentoring,” said Dr. Patricia Dwyer, Wesley’s vice president for academic affairs and provost. “Undergraduate research is a signature program that continues to strengthen and grow at the College.”

Students were able to showcase their projects via oral presentations, posters, performances and artwork. More than 85 participants gave a total of 92 presentations ranging from live music to scientific research. In addition, a photography exhibit was on display during the event, allowing attendees to view photographs from Wesley students. To see pictures of the event, click here.
