Wesley College Faculty Member Named NCAA Division III FAR Fellow
Wesley College Associate Professor of Kinesiology Raymond Phillips has been named one of the NCAA Division III FAR Fellows allowing him to attend a conference underwritten by NCAA.
A FAR Fellow, or a Faculty Athletics Representative, is appointed by the FAR Institute planning committee in order to serve as a liaison between the NCAA and the institution. As the selected representative, Phillips will serve as the chief contact for Wesley College and address issues on the college’s behalf.
“Ray does an outstanding job as our Faculty Athletics Representative and this conference will be a great benefit to Wesley College,” said Director of Athletics Mike Drass. “We are thrilled with their selection.”
FAR Fellows have long been a part of the NCAA’s governmental structure. The first documented case of faculty presence goes back to 1928, indicating that the NCAA has strongly believed that faculty members have a place in the organization.
Phillips will attend the 2012 NCAA Division III FAR Fellows Institute conference on September 28 – 30th in Indianapolis, IN.
