What to Bring

Common items to bring to the Residence Halls

  1. Refrigerator (must be a “mini-fridge” of about 3.3 cubic feet or less)
  2. Linens (see below)*
  3. Shower bucket and supplies, towels, swimming towels
  4. Shower Shoes
  5. Hair dryer
  6. Laundry basket and materials, quarters for laundry ($1.50/washer and dryer load)
  7. Cleaning products for room
  8. Microwavable or paper plates/cups/silverware
  9. Can opener
  10. School supplies
  11. Dictionary/Thesaurus
  12. Memo Board (for door)
  13. Radio/Stereo
  14. Alarm Clock
  15. Fan
  16. Umbrella
  17. Flashlight
  18. First-aid kit
  19. Small area rug
  20. TV/Radio
  21. Hangers
  22. Posters
  23. Coax cable for Comcast cable TV
  24. Telephone and Cable
  25. RJ45 Ethernet Cable (if bringing a personal computer)
  26. Surge protector for the electrical outlets
  27. Security cable for laptop or desktop workstation
  28. 3M Products or Painters Tape

*Important Bedding Information:

The beds and mattresses in the Residence Halls are sized as follows:

  • Gooding, Williams and Roe Halls - Extra Long Twin*
  • Carpenter, Malmberg, and Zimmerman Halls - Standard Twin

 *Note: most stores carry extra long twin sheets. We recommend NOT purchasing your linens until AFTER you receive your official residence hall assignment.

 

Common items NOT permitted in the Residence Halls

  1. Microwaves
  2. Space heaters
  3. Hot plates/Hot pots, toaster ovens, toasters, George Foreman grills
  4. Immersion coils for mugs/cups
  5. Waterbeds or other large water holding items
  6. Unlawful extension cords (must be power strips with surge suppression)
  7. Pets (None of any kind!)
  8. Weapons
  9. Cinder Blocks, illegal material for making bed lofts
  10. Duct Tape
  11. ALL Illegal Substances
