At Wesley, we take pride in the personal relationship we have with our students. We evaluate each student's particular situation and develop a financial aid package tailored to his or her needs. Be sure to meet with someone from our Financial Aid Office to discuss your options.
The financial aid process is nothing to be afraid of. Here's all you have to do:
- Apply for admission to Wesley College New Castle.
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This is the form the federal government uses to calculate how much you can contribute to your educational expenses. If you qualify for financial aid, the amount of aid you receive is based on the difference between the cost of attending Wesley and your contribution.
You can download the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Our Office of Financial Aid can provide a worksheet to help you with completion of the online FAFSA. If you file your FAFSA online, you can sign your FAFSA application electronically by requesting a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov.
Be sure to request that the results of your FAFSA be sent to Wesley College New Castle. Our code is E01006.
That's all there is to it.
Three to four weeks after filing your FAFSA, you'll receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) that is based on the information you provided. Another copy of your SAR will be sent to our Financial Aid Office that we'll use to put together your financial aid package. Review your SAR carefully and let us know of any errors.
Getting Your Financial Aid Award
Once we've received your information and developed your award package, you'll receive an award letter at least two weeks before your first class starts.
If there are processing issues, such as missing or unclear information on your FAFSA, we'll tell you how to correct the problem. Once it's resolved, we'll evaluate your form and, if you qualify for aid, an award offer and an award letter will be mailed to you.
Financial Aid for International Students
International students must show proof of financial support before an I-20 can be issued. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for more information.
Your Award Notification
You'll receive two copies of your award letter from Wesley. Sign one and return it to the Financial Aid Office. Keep the other one for your records.
The letter will tell you how much aid you qualify for and the types of financial aid that make up your award.
Before signing, thoroughly review the award offered and Wesley's financial aid guidelines (
51 KB). These offers and award amounts are subject to change based on new information regarding your finances. If you receive outside sources of aid that you haven't previously declared, these should be reported to the Financial Aid Office immediately.
Financial Aid Tips
Here are other things to keep in mind as you go through the financial aid process.
When applying for financial aid
- Make copies of all the forms you submit for your own records.
- Review all requests for additional information carefully and respond as quickly as possible. And don't hesitate to ask us for help.
- No official award letter will be issued until you've been admitted to Wesley College.
After you've received your financial aid award
- If you receive a scholarship from an external source (such as a civic organization, your church, or your employer), contact the Financial Aid Office immediately. Your financial aid package may be reduced if that additional scholarship exceeds your financial need or the cost of attending Wesley.
- To remain eligible for assistance from federal, state, and institutional sources, you must make satisfactory academic progress. This means meeting Wesley's academic and course requirements for your program.
Researching other financial aid options
- There are a lot of sources of financial aid out there, so take time to do some homework. These sites are good places to start:
- Scholarship search services that charge a fee usually aren't worth the money—very often you're paying for information that is already available elsewhere for free.
